Smart metering is the foundation of most modern energy programs — time-of-use billing, demand response, prepaid tariffs. The client wanted a meter family that addressed multiple use cases on a shared platform.
Challenge
Meeting metrology standards while leaving room for programmable tariffs and remote upgrade, and integrating with the client's head-end and meter-data-management systems.
Approach & solution
We designed a meter around a revenue-grade metrology front-end with a separate application processor for programmability. Secure firmware, signed updates, and standardized head-end protocols ensure the meter fits existing utility infrastructure.
Results & benefits
The meter family now covers several tariff and program variants from a single hardware base. Field upgrades roll out without site visits, reducing lifecycle costs for the utility.
