Telematics basics — location, speed, engine data, trip history — remain the foundation of most fleet operations. The client needed a cost-effective tracker with room to grow into higher-value features.
Challenge
Hitting an aggressive cost target while leaving enough compute and connectivity headroom for future features, and handling cellular coverage gaps without losing trip records.
Approach & solution
We designed a compact tracker with offline trip buffering, CAN-based engine data capture, and a modular firmware that supports feature expansion. The cloud side provides standard fleet views with an open API for customer integrations.
Results & benefits
The platform now serves as the telematics baseline across the client's customers, with features added over time without replacing the hardware. Trip integrity held up well under real coverage conditions.
